What to do in the Tatras when it rains?

Most tourists go to the Tatras to spend time in paradise nature, go on a hike and generally move around mainly outdoors. But what to do when it starts to rain? You don't have to worry, because there's always something to do in the Tatras - even when it's pouring...

What to go for a swim?

Swimming in the rain definitely has its charm... If a day full of rain is approaching, you can use indoor water parks and swimming pools that will make your rainy day more pleasant. You can swim, let the children go to the attractions, go to the sauna or get a massage.

Aquacity Poprad boasts 13 swimming pools, 350 water attractions and a children's pool as cut out of Treasure Island, which your children will definitely love.

Thermal Park Vrbov has 10 thermal pools that are truly beneficial for the human body and its health.

Aquapark Tatralandia is the largest aquapark in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland. One day will definitely not be enough for you!

Aquapark Meandr in Oravicia presents a lot of fun for the whole family, with the benefit of geothermal healing water.

Aquapark Thermal Park Bešeňová offers classic and thermal pools, lots of attractions for children and a rich wellness offer for adults.  

 

You can also hide from the rain under the surface...

Belianska cave is one of the accessible caves in the Tatranské National Park. You will find it near the Tatra basin and you will be able to admire the rich stalactite decoration, stalactite waterfalls, lakes...

Brestovská cave is located in the Žilina Region. Its peculiarity is the underground water flow that passes directly through the cave - thanks to it, the cave itself and the stalactite decoration were created.

Važecká cave formally falls into the Low Tatras, but it is just around the corner from Štrbské pleso. You will see the White Curtains, the Coral Lake and the remains of a cave bear.

 

Just to jump to the museum or for fun

TANAP Museum is one of the most visited museums in Slovakia and its task is to present the nature of the Tatras. Get to know the fauna and flora, the increasingly necessary nature protection and the history of making the Tatras accessible and the local mountain service.

Instead of the rain, head out for culture!

If the weather is bad, you can also go sightseeing! Of course, it's not a suitable program if it's raining like a bucket, but you'll definitely like it there in light rain. So where to go to see?

Spiš Castle is one of the largest medieval castles in all of Europe and therefore rightly belongs on the UNESCO list. The sight of a proud castle defending its masters from hordes of enemies is a real experience.

Spišská Sobota is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Slovakia. It's not the best trip in a real downpour, but if it's just pouring, you should definitely go and see the beauty.

I Levoča is a historical city under UNESCO protection. You can find it in eastern Slovakia and, thanks to its preserved architecture and artistic gems, it is one of the most charming towns in Slovakia.

Museum of Liptovská village Pribylina is an open-air museum of a medieval settlement. You will learn interesting facts about the everyday life of people and the folk architecture of Liptov. The building also includes a mini-zoo, where you can see domestic animals and Hucul horses.

In the foothills of Roháčov you will find the Museum of the Orava village of Zuberec. Orava is reminded of the buildings of folk architecture, which will bring you closer to the everyday life of local residents in ancient times. Small visitors will certainly be delighted by the pets that have a home here.
