The most beautiful places in the Tatras

The Tatras undoubtedly belong to Slovakia. Slovak poets "love" them and often consider them a symbol of this country. A few years ago, the Slovaks even made a video, inspired by the American singer Pharrell Williams, in which they pointed out places in the Tatras that are definitely worth a visit.  In our opinion, these include:

Lomnický štít

This 2. the highest peak of the Tatras (2,634 m above sea level) should definitely be added to your list of places to go. You can take the unique cable car to it, from where you will have an unforgettable view of the surrounding peaks. At the top, you can also stay in apartments, which are highest in Central Europe. So if you want to fall asleep "under the stars", this is a clear choice.

Tatranská Javorina

Our highest village in Slovakia (993 m above sea level). It is an excellent starting point for the largest valley in the Tatras, the Bielovodská valley. A few centuries ago, the largest mountain glacier in the Tatras was also located here. The local wooden church of St. Anny. It was built by the Hohenlohe noble family, with which the village is historically connected.

Tichá and Kôprová dolina

The well-known documentary film Ranger of the Wilderness was filmed here. In general, both valleys are considered true Tatra (almost intact) wilderness. There is also a cycle route up the valleys along the river, the completion of which is an unforgettable experience. At the end of the cycling route in Kôprova dolina is Kmeťov waterfall (approx. 80 m), the highest waterfall in Slovakia.

Roháčska dolina

This Orava valley ends with several ponds named after it. It is the only alpine-type valley in the Western Tatras. On its slopes, in the location of Spálená, there is a ski resort which, thanks to its location and orientation, can enjoy the longest duration of snow cover on the slopes. Not far from here, you can also visit the Brestovská cave and the Orava Village Museum in Zuberec.

Tatra Ice Dome

Hrebienok is an extra magical place in winter. The Tatra Ice Dome is regularly built here, where you can see elaborate ice sculptures built by sculptors from all over the world. Not far from here are the Vfalls of Studený potok and you can end the day with a ride on the longest toboggan run in Slovakia.

Štrbské pleso

A walk around this of the most famous Tatra lake is undemanding. Its interesting feature is that has no surface drain, but neither does it have an inflow. The exchange takes place through seeps and wells at the bottom. When the surface of the lake is not covered by ice, it is possible to rent a boat and enjoy maximum comfort on the surface of the lake.

In the Tatras, we can find hundreds of dazzling places that are worth noticing. Everyone is different and something special. It just depends on what you prefer and what beauties you want to see. However, no matter where you go, one thing is certain, you won't easily forget wandering through the magical Slovak nature.
