Tatra rescuers wear Northfinder

We have been cooperating with the Tatra Mountain Service for a long time. Not formally and not by chance, THS members actually use our clothes in training and in the field, in conditions where functionality is tested very quickly. That is why we created a special collection of ski alpine hardshell jackets and pants made of DERMIZAX™ EV material.

That is why we created a special collection of ski alpine hardshell jackets and pants made of DERMIZAX™ EV material.

Skialp collection developed for the Tatra Mountain Service

We designed the collection as a protective hardshell layer for everyday use in mountain terrain. So that the members of the Tatra Mountain Service can wear it during training and during interventions, in changeable alpine weather and with varying intensity of movement.

The basis is reliable protection against wind, snow and rain, a fully glued construction and a cut that allows free movement when working with equipment, rope or skis. The collection is built on the DERMIZAX™ EV membrane, which provides rescuers with protection without restricting movement.

Men's ski alpine technical hardshell jacket DERMIZAX™ EV MURAN – a jacket with a water column of 20,000 mm and breathability of 16,000 g/m²/24 h, designed for movement and work in the field. It has a special front opening for belt storage, large underarm ventilation zips without mesh and a helmet-compatible hood. Fully bonded construction and durable Dermizax™ EV can handle wind, snow and long standing in the cold.

Men's ski alpine technical hardshell pants DERMIZAX™ EV HAVRAN – hardshell pants with water column parameters of 20,000 mm and breathability of 16,000 g/m²/24 h for demanding winter conditions and for long-term movement in the field, with a fully glued construction and waterproof YKK zippers. Full-surface side ventilation with double-sided opening allows you to regulate the temperature without the need to undress. Pre-shaped knees and a reinforced, three-step adjustable lower edge of the legs allow use with various types of footwear, including hiking. Integrated snow covers are included.

Both products were created as workwear for demanding winter conditions, with an emphasis on durability, functionality and long-term use in the field.

Why we use DERMIZAX™ EV

DERMIZAX™ EV originating from Japan is among the most technically advanced membrane materials we work with today. We use it in the highest collections intended for mountains, for skialps, skiing and alpine tourism.

Unlike porous membranes that clog over time, Dermizax functions as a non-porous membrane thanks to hydrophilic molecules that quickly transfer moisture from the body to the air based on the difference in temperature and humidity between the indoor and outdoor environments. The more you move, the more efficiently the material wicks moisture away from the body. When movement slows down or stops, heat does not escape unnecessarily.

The reason we chose Dermizax is practical. This material works for a long time in conditions where intense movement alternates with static passages and where the clothing is exposed to high loads on a daily basis:

This is exactly why we use DERMIZAX™ EV where the balance between protection, comfort and movement is important, and precisely for these reasons, DERMIZAX™ has EV also has its place in the clothing used by members of the Tatra Mountain Service.

Products developed specifically for the Tatra Mountain Service are not yet part of our regular offer in this form. In the future, however, we expect that the experience from this collaboration will also be reflected in commercial collections. Top winter clothing made of DERMIZAX™ EV material is already available today in our ski collection, where we place equal emphasis on weather protection, breathability and durability during active movement.

NORTHFINDER Ski Alpine Collection

Products for THS are based on the same philosophy as our entire ski alpine collection. We design jackets, trousers, insulation layers, backpacks and footwear with an emphasis on function, materials and long-term use.

Skialp places high demands on clothing. During the ascent, breathability and the ability to work with body moisture are decisive, while on the descent, on the contrary, protection against wind and cold. That is why we work with hybrid constructions, where each layer has a clear role, and with materials developed for extreme conditions, such as DERMIZAX™ EV, Polartec® Alpha® Direct, Blizzard® Thermal Comfort or Primaloft®.

The result is clothing that works during intense movement and in static passages, does not require constant changing of clothes and makes sense for the skialp in its entire width – from recreational hikes to more technically demanding terrain.

Care and maintenance of suede shoes

Impregnation determines how your shoes will look The first thing you need to do after buying suede leather shoes is to impregnate them. And that's even before the first use. The impregnation protects against the absorption of liquid dirt, as well as the penetration of dusty dirt into the shoes, which would subsequently be very difficult to clean. With impregnation, you will not only keep the nice new look of suede shoes for longer, but also extend their service life. It is important that you impregnate clean or cleaned shoes. In a shoe store, ask for an impregnation agent designed directly for suede leather, most often it will be in the form of a spray. On the contrary, do not use waxes and polishing agents for this type of shoes, the shoes would lose their nice polished look. For the impregnation injection itself, choose a well-ventilated place, preferably directly outside or on the balcony, and impregnate from a distance of approx. 20-30 cm from the sprayed surface. The impregnation is thus spread more evenly over the surface. Leave the impregnated shoes to dry in a ventilated place and you can repeat the process one or two more times. We recommend stuffing the shoes with paper or stretchers before impregnation, so they keep a nice shape. Cleaning and care If the dirty shoes are dry, you can clean them by brushing. Typically, it will be dust or dried mud. However, it is important that both the dirt and the shoes are really dry, otherwise you will just spread the dirt on the surface of the shoe and make cleaning more trouble than good. If the dirty shoes are wet or damp, get rid of coarse dirt with a damp cloth, especially around the rubber perimeter of the sole. Then let the shoes dry and clean them with a brush. The brush for suede leather is of two types, either bristle or rubber, and is sometimes combined in one tool. Start with the bristle part and finish with the rubber part for a nice look. In addition to impregnation sprays, there are also special cleaning agents for suede leather, thanks to which you will be able to better clean deeper dirt. After cleaning and drying the shoes, we recommend impregnating the shoes again. OrthoLite® shoe insoles can also be washed in a washing machine Leather shoes cannot be washed in a washing machine, they would be destroyed. However, this does not apply to the inner liner. In case of heavy soiling, you can easily wash the OrthoLite® insoles that we use in our shoes in the washing machine. We recommend the gentlest possible program, low temperature and also low spinning speed. Afterwards, dry the inserts spread out in the air and be sure not to use a dryer when drying. Thus, they will retain their appearance and all the comfort they provide to your feet.
