How does down work?
Down feathers retain heat in a number of small air bubbles, and are rightly considered the best thermal insulation material. But only until they get wet. Wet down loses structure, stops heating, and takes a long time to dry.
How does synthetic thermal insulation work?
PrimaLoft® polyester microfibers also trap heat in air bubbles. And synthetic insulation has a huge advantage in water resistance. The fibres repel water, and will keep you dry and warm even when playing sports in cold and wet environments.

PrimaLoft® is also a light and breathable material that does not restrict your movement in any way. In addition to being waterproof, it also protects against the wind and, has excellent warming properties, and is smart and handy. In the spirit of the slogan "always prepared", we cannot praise PrimaLoft® enough, but if you still can't decide between down and synthetics, you can also try the hybrid PrimaLoft® Down Blend, which combines synthetic water resistance with natural warm insulation.
