Care, cleaning, impregnation and washing of functional clothing

Proper cleaning and impregnation will extend the life of the clothes

General care rules

Most of our products are synthetic materials that carry functional properties. In order for the clothing to provide long-term protection, proper attention must be paid to care. Each model has its own label with international care symbols. We recommend using tested detergents, for example: TOKO, Grangers, ATSKO, HEY, Nikwax, Perwoll Sport or ecological FIBERTEC. Softshell and membrane clothing require regular renewal of the DWR or WR layer (Durable Water Repellency, Water Repellency), which ensures water repellency and waterproofness.

Washing

Detergents

You should pay extra care to cleaning and renewing the impregnation of functional clothing. Avoid using detergents containing bleaches, softeners or fabric softeners and prefer liquid detergents. Common detergents coat the fibers with polymers, oils, dyes, fats and salts, which ultimately impair the functionality of the materials.

Check before washing

Check the pockets before washing, exclude solid objects that could damage the garment. Fasten the zips, velcros, or expand the fastening system. When washing, we do not combine functional clothes with top layers of clothing. We wash the clothes separately at low speeds. If you have removed the consumer label from the garment, we set the washing temperature to a maximum of 30° C.

3D insulating materials

Thermal insulating jackets with hollow artificial fibers are recommended to be cleaned every year in the washing machine or by hand in a detergent without softeners, bleaches and fabric softeners. After washing, gently squeeze the water out of the clothes, shake them and dry them in a horizontal position.

Fleece clothes

Fleece clothes are washed inside out. We use gentle washing modes at 30°C to 40°C and detergents without bleaching agents or optical brighteners. We dry loosely hung on a hanger at room temperature."

Drying and ironing

We do not dry washed synthetic clothing, unless the label directly allows it. We hang the garment on a hanger or, in the case of jackets, lay it horizontally so that water drips and dry at room temperature. We do not recommend ironing synthetic materials and exposing them to direct sunlight when drying Ironing is excluded for garments with polypropylene (POP) content.

DWR / WR recovery

DWR or WR is an important part of membranes and softshell garments. It prevents the material from being soaked by water and allows drops to run off the surface. The effectiveness of DWR / WR is reduced by wearing, washing in normal detergents, smoke, but also by tanning and repellent substances. We recommend using products that not only clean the garment without negative effects on the fibers, but also restore its water repellency. After washing, the DWR molecules are activated by increasing the temperature through gentle ironing or heat in the dryer. You can find a suitable procedure on the packaging of the impregnation product, for example: ATSKO, Nikwax or TOKO.
